We visited the churches in Laguna and we had lunch here at White House Bistro 1938 as it was listed as one of the most recommended restaurants to try in Liliw, Laguna.

White House Bistro 1938 is an ancestral house converted into a Filipino restaurant serving local cuisine. It has also become a popular tourist destination in Liliw, Laguna.

Since it was a house converted into a restaurant, it has a homey ambiance making you feel like dining at your own house.

I love that the house was well-preserved and they were able to maintain its heritage value. It was naturally lit and there are some antiques and old furniture. You would really feel like how it is to dine and live in an ancestral house.

We saw their menu online but apparently, it was not updated and they are serving less food now compared to before. Also, some of the food on their menu wasn’t available at the time we went including the Pancit Liliw which was one of the reasons why we decided to dine here. Aside from the main dishes, they also serve pizza, salad, and Liliw Bonete Bread. The Liliw Bonete Bread is served with quezo puti and salsa while the White House Salad has arugula, mixed greens, apple, white cheese, & balsamic dressing. Unfortunately, these two were also not available at the time we went.

We asked the staff for their bestsellers and we ordered most of it.

Ginataang Kalabaw

Love their gata! Also, the carabao was tender and fall off the bone. Definitely something that you should try here.

Tapang Kalabaw

Tender and flavorful just how we like our tapa. It may look a bit sad but the serving can definitely fill a person’s tummy.

Monggo

Monggo is not on their menu but the staff told us that it is their menu of the day so, we decided to get it too.

I did not see how much this cost but most probably, it is around Php 200 like the other dishes.

Ukoy (Shrimp Fritter)

Love that it is super crispy but I was looking for more shrimp on it. Not sure if this is really how they make ukoy here in Liliw but their version has more flour which makes it crispy but has less shrimp.

Lumpiang Shanghai

This one was crispy and tastes okay but not the type of lumpiang shanghai we always crave for.

Crispy Pata

The staff told us that Crispy Pata is one of their bestsellers too so, we just had to try it.

Tender, juicy, crispy, and flavorful! Definitely, something to share with your friends and family that will surely satiate your hunger.

Their laing did not disappoint! Just how we like it!

Overall Rating

When we arrived, there were almost no people at the restaurant, even the staff are not there. Good thing they showed up immediately and got our order. If you want to try local dishes in Liliw, you should try this restaurant and order their kalabaw dishes, crispy pata, and laing.

White House Bistro 1938 was just a few minutes away from Liliw Church. You can walk or bring your car since you can park at the front of the restaurant if you are going to dine there. We decided to walk since we though we cannot park there and the streets are small. Another perks of walking is that you can stroll around and buy pasalubong or footwear since it is located within the main street of the town.
