Scoop n’ Bell boasts about their premium artisan ice cream. These artisan ice cream were handcrafted by Chef Jonas Caraig and Chef Edward DeGuzman DeLara. Their business started out in October last year with only 4 flavors available – Rocky Road, Dark Chocolate, Macapuno, and Ube Keso. Now, they are offering 9 more flavors!
I was able to try 12 ice creams out of 13 and here’s what I think (from my most to least favorite). By the way, they also have Mango Royale and Ferrero Rocher but it was not available at that time.
1. Salted Caramel – my favorite among all the flavors! It was rich and creamy and has the right balance of sweetness and saltiness. Definitely, something that tastes luxurious yet affordable.
Upon opening the tub, it may look like “nothing special” as it was plain-looking compared to existing salted caramel ice creams in the market but hey, looks don’t matter on this one! This is absolutely one of the best I have tried so far.
Ice Cream Rating: 5/5
By the way, I specifically love that all their ice cream is rich, creamy, and not overly sweet.
I don’t have photos of the other ice cream but I will fill this up once I got the chance to. Anyway, my next favorite is their chocolate ice creams!
2. Choco Peanut Butter – this flavor isn’t really on my best bet but here it is, on my second spot. Can I say that no. 1 and 2 are a tie? I think it would be just a matter of whether I am craving something chocolatey or something that’s sweet and salty.
I love their chocolate base which is used for all the other chocolate ice cream flavors but with a twist of peanut butter. My cousin said that the peanut butter tastes like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and it is! You can really feel the texture of the peanut butter mixture on the chocolate ice cream. Yum!
Ice Cream Rating: 5/5
3. Double Chocolate – another chocolate-flavored ice cream but this time with more chocolate. It somehow feels and tastes like our childhood chocolate, choco-choco as noticed by my cousin again. Well, I think it is somehow similar. I also like how the chocolate melts in your mouth.
Ice Cream Rating: 5/5
4. Coffee Caramel Crunch – not really a fan of coffee before but now I am starting to enjoy it. I also enjoyed this one with its caramel and cookie bits that counterbalance the bitterness of coffee. A must-try especially for people who loves coffee.
Ice Cream Rating: 5/5
5. Chocolate Brownies – I noticed that all their ice cream has only bits of everything and it includes this Chocolate Brownies ice cream. It’s the same chocolate base but this time with fudgy brownies. I love its texture and flavor as well.
Ice Cream Rating: 5/5
6. Dark Chocolate – still the same base but this version is like the plain one. If you love the previous 2 flavors, you’ll love this too.
Ice Cream Rating: 4/5
7. Rocky Road – I love rocky road ice cream but I want mine with big marshmallows and nuts. So, since theirs has small mallows and nuts, this is my least favorite among the 5 chocolate ice creams. Don’t get me wrong, it tastes good too.
Ice Cream Rating: 4/5
8. Ube Keso – just a little disclaimer, I don’t like ube ice cream that much but this one is actually included on their bestsellers. The ube ice cream alone tastes good and it has bits of cheese. I like the bits of cheese on it but I thought it would be better if it were like bigger bits or cheesier. More cheese perhaps? Well, that’s only for me since my friends who love this flavor actually love this one since it is rich, creamy, and is flavorful.
Ice Cream Rating: 4/5
9. Macapuno – vanilla base ice cream with macapuno bits. I don’t have any comments on this one as it is what it is.
Ice Cream Rating: 3.5/5
10. Stracciatella – this was my first choice when I was asked which flavor I wanted to try since this flavor is a bit rare in supermarkets. He told me that this one isn’t included in their bestsellers but still, I wanted to try it. Hehe.
The ice cream is made with the same base as with their salted caramel – a creamy vanilla base with flakes of dark chocolate. The dark chocolate flavor on the ice cream isn’t something I am a fan of or maybe I was just looking for more.
Ice Cream Rating: 3/5
11. Funky Monkey – banana-flavored ice cream with oreo cookies. Thought this one would be fun to eat too. I think it’s already a thing for any banana-flavored ice cream? The banana flavor is overpowering and is somewhat too sweet to my liking. I am also looking for more oreo but it was overpowered by the banana. Well, if you love banana ice creams, you might want to try this one.
Thinking about it, it is actually fairly sweet compared to the local ice cream brand that you can see in supermarkets, that one is overly sweet as compared to this one.
Ice Cream Rating: 2/5
12. Gabi Keso – same vanilla ice cream base but I cannot taste any gabi on it? The flavor was too faint. It tastes good, creamy, and rich too but not just “gabi”. While eating this, I actually questioned myself “what does gabi taste like?”
For the flavors, I highly recommend the top 6 flavors and the rest was okay but just a so-so for me. Well, you can also try the Ube Keso if you love that flavor. All my friends who have tried it so far actually loved it.
Ice Cream Rating: 2/5
Their ice cream was made in Bataan but now, they are delivering nationwide. The ice cream cost ranges from Php 170 to Php 185 depending on the reseller where you are buying it. Got mine at Php 170 only. If you are interested to try this, you should check in your area if they have a reseller there.
