I love Peri-Peri Chicken and my sister has been talking about Nando’s and told me that this one is better than the restaurants we have tried here in the Philippines. So, I was glad when my friend told me that we are going to eat at Nando’s before going to the Petronas Towers.
Nando’s is a South African Restaurant which is known for its world-famous Afro-Portuguese Peri-Peri flame-grilled chicken.
The restaurant’s ambiance was really inviting and of course, we tried their specialty, Peri-Peri Chicken Party for 1 which comes with 2 side dishes.
The Party for 1 consists of 1/4 chicken with 2 regular sides, Peri-Peri soup, and bottomless drink. You can choose from their sides: spicy rice, coleslaw, side salad, Peri-Peri chips, Peri-Peri wedges, Mediterranean rice, chargrilled vegetables, garlic bread, and corn-on-the-cob. Their drinks include Coca-Cola products, minute made refresh, and Heaven and Earth. What’s cool about their bottomless drinks was that they have a drinks corner where you can enjoy whatever drink you want, bottomless. So, you can basically switch from one drink to another while enjoying your meal.
For the Peri-Peri Chicken, they have a PERI-ometer where you can choose how mild or wild the spice of your chicken will be: plain…ish, lemon & herb, mango & lime, mild, hot, and extra hot.
Judgment time!!!
I had my own Party for 1 and chose my Peri-Peri chicken to be a bit on the mild side which is the Mango & Lime. The combination sounds interesting and I love mangoes and thought that it would a bit on the sweet side as well.
True enough, I love how the chicken was savory and sweet at the same time because of the mangoes. I wanted to have more sauce but they don’t have a mango & lime sauce. They only have the lemon & herb, medium, garlic, hot, extra hot, and extra extra hot Peri-Peri Sauce. Or maybe, they could have put more sauce on the chicken to make up for the unavailability of the mango & lime sauce.
I was also able to try my friend’s chicken which was Mild and I like it too. I enjoyed it more since I can put as much sauce as I want.
For the sides, I had the Chargrilled Vegetables and Peri-Peri Chips. I like how they cooked the vegetables perfectly, crunchy. The Peri-Peri chips were okay but I think it could have been better if I ordered their coleslaw instead. Good thing, my friend ordered their coleslaw which I really liked while the Peri-Peri Wedges were also so-so.
I was also able to try Mediterranean Rice and Side Salad which my friend ordered. I love the salad and the rice was also good but since the chicken was already flavorful on its own, I prefer having it with white rice but they don’t have it here.
Their soup is also something that you should not miss. It was very flavorful and perfectly matches my Peri-Peri meal. I also enjoyed the bottomless drinks specifically Heaven and Earth since I am an iced tea type of person.

The Party for 1 was really worth it and you get the value of your money.
Aside from that, we also ordered the Chicken Livers and Portuguese Roll which one of my friends recommended. I don’t actually like liver (but I love liver spread. LOL) but I tried it and was surprised that it tastes good.
The way to eat it is to put some butter on the Portuguese Roll first then put the chicken livers. The chicken livers melt in my mouth and it actually does taste good with its sauce.

We forgot to order desserts since we are already full and we are also heading to Jalan Alor after seeing the Petronas Towers. Luckily, there’s a Nando’s at the airport so, we are able to try their Natas.
Naughty Natas – this Portuguese custard tart is perfectly creamy and crunchy. Definitely one of the finest tarts I have tried.
Overall, the chicken was definitely good but I wish there was more sauce on my Mango & Lime Peri-Peri Chicken or they produce that same sauce so that I can freely add as much sauce as I want.
