My friend, Pat (@thepatkidinside) first introduced Lucci’s to me when I was looking for food businesses delivering in Metro Manila during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
I am lucky enough to have met Auntie Daisy who is not your ordinary baker since she is also a cookie and food critic. They sell freshly baked cookies aside from this French Apple Cake.
It wasn’t the first time I have heard of this cake but it is the first time I was able to try it since I am more of a chocolate, cheesecake, and cake with icing type of person.
I have seen photos of this cake online but it actually looks better up close. The cake looks simple yet sophisticated making it perfect for any type of occasion.
The cake may sound expensive but it is actually affordable! It only cost Php 399!
The cake was loaded with a generous amount of apple beautifully spread all over the cake and on top of the cake. The cake was aromatic, light, and super moist. It has a hint of rum which really elevates the cake and creates the balance in flavor making every bite very satisfying. Also, love the contrast in the texture of the crispy apple and soft cake.
The cake was super moist which I love. However, since it was too moist and soft the middle part was falling apart when I sliced it. Despite that, I am actually more impressed that the cake retained its moistness even after a few days. Also, I don’t know if it was just me but the cake taste even better as days passed and felt like that the flavors are intensified.

Overall, I highly recommend this French Apple Cake from Lucci! Also, best paired with a cup of your favorite tea.
