Sobra Cafe started out as an online food delivery business during the height of the pandemic. Their mission was to create exciting and flavorful premium comfort food that targets the sense of well-being of Filipinos. Now, they have worked on having their first branch and we visited it at Molito Lifestyle Center in Alabang.
Molito is one of my go-to places when I was still working in Alabang since they offer lots of good food. Food establishments there are a bit pricey but every visit to that place was definitely worth it. It is a bit far for us now, but you know we’ll always go a long way just to experience good food and to see the owner himself, David Licauco aka Ginoong Fidel of Maria Clara at Ibarra (I swear, you should watch it!)
As its name implies “Sobra”, Sobra Cafe serves generous servings of comfort food. Their food was all good for one but can definitely fill two tummies if you’re a small eater like us. Even my brothers who are all big eaters said that the serving is big for them.
Anyway, we ordered our food in advance and asked for the appetizer to be served first while we are waiting outside.
Dirty Fries
Initially, we don’t plan on ordering this but this one is definitely a good starter!
Fries overloaded with chicken poppers, and popcorn drizzled with cheese pimiento and cilantro sauce. Love the sauces!!! Love the tender chicken too! We highly recommend this appetizer.

Caesar Salad
Another thing I like about Sobra Cafe is the variety and availability of healthy food options like this salad on their menu.
This Caesar salad comes with a huge pesto chicken breast, romaine lettuce, and parmigiano reggiano. If you’re trying to watch your diet, this is for you too! I mean, you get the right amount of protein and greens here! Love it especially the pesto chicken that comes with it.

Tapa Sobra!
Sobra Cafe’s bestseller and I think, also the most popular dish on their menu.
For tapa lovers, this Tapa Sobra is definitely a must-try as they took it to the next level. Their tapa was made with US beef, served with garlic rice, and topped with fried garlic chips, pickled onions, and over-easy eggs. Thinly sliced and tender beef that everyone would definitely love. Their tapa was savory yet leaning more on the sweet side. I super love the pickled onions as it gives balance to the overall taste of the dish, “walang umay”. Add into that the crispy garlic and perfectly cooked egg that perfectly matches the dish! “Sobrang sarap at sobrang dami ng serving!”

Bulgogi
Another bowl of goodness!
This bulgogi bowl contains U.S. Ribcap Bulgogi, kimchi fried rice, homemade kimchi, cheese sauce, and an over-easy egg.
This one is our favorite since we love Korean food. It has the right spiciness, and the beef was tender too. Generous serving as expected and our father was able to finish the bowl! Definitely approved!

If this Bulgogi already tastes good, how about the version of Kuya Korea? Hhhhmmm… I already have high expectations!
Shawarma
Slow-cooked shawarma brisket served with pepper fried rice and cilantro garlic sauce.
We find the onion taste a bit too strong to our liking and the cilantro garlic sauce sort of overpowers the overall taste of the dish. But in fairness to their meat, it was consistently tender and sliced thinly.

ONO! Fried Chicken Sandwich
The chicken was huge. Really. Bigger than the brioche buns!
This is also listed in their bestsellers. Boneless fried chicken in brioche buns with homemade mayo sauce, and served with fries and roasted bell pepper sauce on the side.
Their food description says that it has pickled cabbage too but I didn’t see any, instead, I saw lots of onions inside, and I was so happy! I think it would taste better if it has cabbage since I love cabbage. I don’t know if they made a mistake since I didn’t notice it until I was writing this review. Anyhow, the chicken was tender, overall, it tastes good but I don’t really see why it’s popular. Maybe because of the big, tender, and juicy chicken? Also, the roasted bell pepper sauce isn’t to our liking. It has a strong flavor that we don’t really like.

Mac ‘n Cheese
Mac ‘n Cheese served with pork belly burnt? Ugh. THE BEST MAC ‘N CHEESE I’VE HAD!!!
I don’t really like super cheesy stuff that much because of the “umay factor” but this one, no, “walang umay”. Just pure goodness! The pork belly was savory and tender too! Perfectly matches the mac ‘n cheese! Perfect combo!
When you say comfort food, I think this is it for me.

Banoffee Pie
When the banoffee pie was placed on our table, my initial reaction was “wow”. Look at that, thin pie crust with a generous amount of banana, and whipped cream, with vanilla bean sauce, and topped with chocolate curls, lots of it.
Everything was perfect for me, especially the vanilla bean sauce that comes with it. Our only comment was for the crust, it was hard to get since it was so thin, and not crumbly. Tastes good but it lacks that particular pie crust texture that it should have.
Might think twice if I will order this again but it tastes good. Hope they can improve on the pie crust! And maybe it would be nice if they can add more cakes or desserts to their menu.

We already asked for our bill as we are already done eating then I teased my sister to ask the staff if David will come since we have a bet. Haha. The staff (very supportive staff) said yes so, we have decided to order hot drinks and to wait for him, of course.
Hot Chocolate
The staff told us that David Licauco was already there so, we decided to go downstairs to ask for a photo. Haha.
When I returned to our seats, my hot chocolate drink was already there. I opened it and was surprised that it has marshmallows on top. Definitely one of the best hot chocolates I’ve had. It has 3 big marshmallows but it’s not overly sweet. Definitely rich and creamy!

They don’t have other hot non-coffee drinks on their menu that’s why I ordered this but I would have preferred a hot matcha or any hot tea after a meal. This is actually my problem with most restaurants.
Cafe Latte
My sisters ordered this and told me that it tastes good as well.

Also, their drinks weren’t that pricey compared to their dishes. Love it!
Aside from these, Sobra Cafe also offers fresh lemonade, fruit shakes, cocktails, spirits, wines, and beer.
Overall Experience
Overall, we love Sobra Cafe, especially their Mac ‘n Cheese, Bulgogi, and Dirty Fries. Their Tapa Sobra definitely tastes delicious as well and is a must-try too. We also love the variety on their menu. Big food serving which makes it very sulit for its price given that they are located in Molito Alabang. The staff who served our food was very nice and all smiles to all the customers there. Actually, our initial interaction with 2 of their staff wasn’t pleasant since we don’t feel like were welcomed. Thanks to the guy staff who served our food which somehow made up for the unpleasant initial expression. Their staff was also not judgmental of us fangirling over David Licauco, in fact, they were very supportive. We’re so happy with his service!
If I will come back to Sobra Cafe? Definitely yes, especially for their Mac ‘n Cheese since it is the dish that I truly find special on their menu. Their drinks look good too and I would like to try that next time.
I wasn’t able to take photos of the place since the restaurant was full at the time we went. It has a bright ambiance and spacious even though the cafe is a bit small. Another thing we noticed that we really liked was their big tables. As in, even if you order lots of food, there will always be space on your table. This also makes it a perfect place to just sit, relax, and enjoy your favorite comfort food. Or maybe, if you are looking for a different place to work, this is also perfect. You won’t feel cramped even if you have your drink, food, and laptop on the table. Love that Sobra Cafe also paid much attention to ambiance and comfortability.
