We all have that original recipe we acquired from our parents or grandmothers, and this one was ours.
Before, I thought that this was just a simple recipe that everybody knows just like Sinigang, and Nilaga. So, one time, I brought this as my packed lunch in our office and was surprised to learn that my officemates do not know what this dish is. They asked me what is the name of the dish and my answer was “chicken na may ketchup at gatas”. Yup, that’s how we call this dish until my cousins and I decided to call it something else. Since it was our grandmother’s recipe, we have decided to call it Chicken Adelaide, simply because, my grandmother’s name was Adelaida.
The recipe is pretty simple but it sure is one of our favorites!
Ingredients:
1 kg Chicken
1 cup UFC Banana Ketchup
200 ml Alaska Evaporated Milk
3 pcs Potatoes
3 cloves Garlic
1 pc Onion
Cooking Oil
Salt
Pepper
Procedure:
1. Mince garlic and onions then set aside.
2. Peel and slice potatoes then set aside.
3. In a pan, put cooking oil and saute garlic and onions.
4. Add chicken, salt, pepper, and potatoes. Let it cook for a few minutes.
5. Then, add ketchup and let it simmer.
6. Once the chicken is already cooked and the potatoes are soft (as desired), pour milk while stirring.
7. Let it boil while stirring then put off the fire.
8. Serve and enjoy!
Cooking Tips:
1. It is important to use the UFC Banana Ketchup and Alaska evaporated milk when making this recipe.
2. You can also add carrots if you want but the original recipe only calls for potatoes.
I hope you like this Chicken Adelaide recipe as much as we do!
