I got this recipe from my cousin since we love eating Pinoy Style Chicken Buffalo Wings together with any pasta dish. I have to modify the recipe a bit since some of the ingredients are not available in our pantry.
The original recipe includes:
Chicken Buffalo Wings
1 butter
2 cups UFC Banana Ketchup
1 bottle Hot Sauce
Chili Powder
Calamansi
1 pack Tasty Boy Breading Mix
Modified Recipe:
18 pcs Chicken Buffalo Wings
1 butter
2 cups UFC Banana Ketchup
1 bottle Hot Sauce
Calamansi
All-Purpose Flour
1 tsp Paprika Powder
Pepper
Salt
Cooking Oil
Procedure
1. Put the chicken in a mixing bowl and marinade with calamansi juice or lemon for 2-4 hours. Add chili powder if desired.
2. Prepare the DIY breading by mixing flour, salt, pepper, and paprika powder.
3. After 2-4 hours, coat the chicken with the flour mixture.
4. Deep fry chicken wings until golden brown then set aside.
5. Prepare the dip by melting butter in a saucepan.
6. Put in hot sauce, black pepper, and ketchup.
7. Pour in the sauce with the fried chicken wings and serve!
Cooking Tips:
1. Adjust spiciness by adding more hot sauce and chili powder. This version is not spicy since my family members don’t want it too spicy.
2. We prefer putting the sauce on the side since we don’t want the chicken to lose its crispiness after some time.
3. On the contrary, to better absorb the sauce, pour the sauce immediately to the chicken while it is still hot.
4. For the breading mix, we specifically prefer the Tasty Boy since it tastes better for this recipe.
5. Don’t over marinate the chicken.
