I know we all miss Jollibee right now and I just saw recently that they have started offering their ready-to-cook goods which include everyone’s favorite Chickenjoy, Tuna Pie and a lot more. It is available for pick-up or through delivery in their selected branches so, you might want to check it out or maybe just create your own Crispy Tuna Pie at home.
I saw this one circulating on Facebook and decided to try it to see for myself if it was really worth going all the trouble.
So here’s the list of ingredients that you will need:
8 pcs. Tasty Bread
1 can Tuna Flakes Hot & Spicy or Vegetable in Oil
3 Tbsp Mayonnaise
1 pc Eggs
Cheese
1 pack Skyflakes or Breadcrumbs
Salt
Black Pepper
Vegetable Oil
Procedure:
1. Trim edges of the bread and flatten using a rolling pin.
2. Remove the oil from the canned tuna then slice the onions. Combine ingredients and add pepper.
3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg then set aside.
4. Fill the bread with tuna spread and a slice of cheese. Don’t put too much tuna spread so that you can seal it properly.
5. Roll and seal sides using a fork.
6. Dip in beaten eggs until evenly coated.
7. Crush the skyflakes then roll the bread. You can use breadcrumbs but I don’t have any so, I used skyflakes instead.
8. Deep-fry and cook until both sides are crispy and golden.
9. Drain using paper towels then serve and enjoy!
I also tried not trimming the sides of the bread since I think it was such a waste (though I ate the trimmings from the other bread while preparing this).
It is a bit hard to seal the sides so, I flattened it, even more, to be able to seal it. For me, this one is better since the sides were crispier, which I really liked. Also, let’s say no to food wastage!
You can also try using other tuna variants depending on your preference and add more cheese slices.
And yup! It is worth the trouble!
Have your Crispy Tuna Pie together with maybe a glass of homemade FRNK Cocoa Milk Drink, Dalgona Coffee or a Dalgona Milo.
