Been missing Cinnabon’s Cinnamon Rolls for a while now so, my sister decided to make our own. She googled a recipe, watched a video on Youtube, and made it with me. Me, taking photos most of the time and being her assistant. 😂
The recipe we used was from Emma’s Goodies’ Fluffiest Cinnamon Rolls but we doubled the amount of glaze cause I want my Cinnamon Rolls fully covered. Also, instead of using all-purpose flour, we used bread flour since it would make perfectly fluffy and soft Cinnamon Rolls than when using the former.
Ingredients:
For Cinnamon Rolls:
1 3/4 c Bread Flour
1/4 c White Sugar
1/2 tsp Salt
50 g Melted Butter
3/4 c Warm Milk
1 pc Medium Egg
7 g Dry Yeast
For Filling:
60 g Butter
100 g Brown Sugar
1 tbsp Cinnamon
1/2 c Cornstarch
1/4 tsp Salt
For Glaze:
1 c Cream Cheese
2/3 c Powdered Sugar
2 tsp Vanilla
4 tbsp Fresh Milk
Procedures:
For Cinnamon Rolls:
1. In a bowl, sift the flour and sugar then mix well. Set aside.
2. In a separate bowl, combine milk, butter, egg, and yeast then mix well.
3. Pour the liquid mixture into the dry mix gradually. You can use an electric mixer if you have one which would be easier.
4. Once mixed, lightly flour the surface where you will knead the dough.
5. After kneading, put it in a bowl and cover it with a plastic wrapper. Let it rise for 1 to 1 1/2 hour.
.
6. Once it has risen, lightly cover your work area with flour and roll the dough into a rectangular form.
7. Spread the top with soft butter and sprinkle with the filling
For Filling:
1. In a bowl, mix brown sugar, salt, cornstarch, and cinnamon.
2. Sprinkle the mixture evenly on top of your dough.
3. Tightly roll up the dough.
4. Cut the dough using a string to evenly cut it but you can also use a pastry cutter or knife. Using a string would cut the dough perfectly.
5. Put butter on the baking tray then place the dough.
5. Cover it again using a plastic wrapper and let it rise for 30 minutes.
6. Once the cinnamon rolls are nice and puffy, preheat the oven at 180°C. Bake for around 20-30 minutes or until it turns golden brown.
For the Glaze:
1. Whisk together cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and fresh milk until the mixture is smooth.
2. Drizzle on top of your Cinnamon rolls.
You can notice that the glaze on this one is not perfectly smooth since we made 2 sets to fully cover the top of the Cinnamon Rolls. My sister was too lazy to make the glaze as smooth as the first time she did it. Also, make sure to melt the cream cheese prior to doing this since it would be easier to mix and avoid clumps.
The recipe is a classic and fluffy Cinnamon Rolls but I think we should use a better cinnamon powder since the taste is not as good as the ones from Cinnabon. I wonder why? Also, other recipes skip spreading the soft butter on top of the cinnamon rolls and combine it with the filling instead. This may be another good option.
