We all miss our favorite restaurants while on quarantine. Some still offer food delivery while some don’t. And it’s also another case if you are in the province, less delivery.
I love eating fried tofu, and sizzling tofu so, I have decided to make my own Max’s Tofu Sisig. I saw a recipe online and decided to try it but with some modifications.
Ingredients:
Tofu
1 tbsp Margarine
1 pc Onion
Red Bell Pepper
Chili Finger peppers (siling haba)
Lemon
1 tsp Knorr Savor Rich Pork Liquid Seasoning
4 tsp Nestle Cream
1 tbsp Oyster Sauce
1 tbsp Mayonnaise
Cooking Oil
Procedure:
1. Mince onion, and red bell pepper then slice the chili finger peppers.
2. Slice the tofu into cubes.
3. Season tofu with pepper.
4. Fry the tofu until golden and crispy then set aside.
5. In a pan, put margarine and cook the onion.
6. Then put the bell pepper and chili finger pepper until tender-crisp.
7. Add a bit of lemon juice, oyster sauce, and the seasoning mix.
8. Once simmered, toss in tofu and mayonnaise. Mix well.
9. Garnish with chili finger peppers then serve and enjoy!
I used margarine since I don’t have butter. Also, I asked my brother to buy the Knorr Seasoning but he bought the Savory Rich Pork Seasoning which actually tastes more flavorful and rich.
Also, this one is a bit darker in color compared to the photos I have seen online maybe because I put in too much oyster sauce but I have added in Nestle Cream and mayonnaise to neutralize the flavor. Nevertheless, it still tastes similar to Max’s Tofu Sisig!
You can also serve it on a sizzling plate if you have one at home. Enjoy!
