The first time I had tried Grilled Cheese Sandwich was way back in 2015 when my friends and I went to La Union and ate at El Union Coffee. Theirs was served with sriracha and tastes really good!
I miss having Grilled Cheese Sandwiches that’s why I have decided to make one at home though with the ongoing Enhanced Community Quarantine again, I have decided to use only the available ingredients. So, this one basically costs less than the usual sandwich and I used other alternatives for the ingredients that I don’t have.
Ingredients:
Processed Filled Cheese/Cheddar Cheese
6 slices White Bread
1 pc. Egg
Margarine/Butter
Instead of using cheddar cheese, I used Eden Cheese and instead of using butter, I used margarine. Also, just a bit of trivia, margarine is a “healthier” option than butter since it contains fewer calories, less saturated fats, and no cholesterol.”
Basically, I just added other ingredients to the basic Grilled Cheese Sandwich.
1. Grilled Cheese Sandwich
- Preheat pan and spread margarine on one side of each slice of bread.
- Put the bread with margarine in the pan facing down. Top with a slice of cheese then with another slice of bread.
- Cook until bread is golden and cheese is starting to melt. Make sure that the heat is on low or medium to avoid burning the bread.
- Flip the bread and cook the other side until golden brown.
- Slice in half then serve!
2. Grilled Cheese Ham Sandwich
- Beat an egg.
- Do the same procedure as above but this time dip the side of the bread with margarine in the egg.
- Put in the pan and add ham together with the cheese.
- Cook until golden brown.
3. Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Ham and Egg
- Make a scrambled egg. Don’t put any salt but you can add some pepper.
- Do the same procedure as above but this time, add ham and egg together with the cheese.
- Make sure to put less cheese on this one as it can get a bit too salty.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
Important Notes:
1. It is better to use cheddar cheese if you have it.
2. If you are also using Eden cheese, just put the right quantity since it can get too salty.
3. Try it with a bit of sriracha on the side!
4. Best serve with some salad on too!
These Grilled Cheese Sandwiches are best eaten when hot! So, serve immediately and enjoy it with Dalgona drink!
