One of my friends wouldn’t stop talking about dining in at Bellepat in Tayabas but we never had the chance to. My sisters and I also tried our luck once but failed since they were close. To celebrate Mother’s Day, we decided to dine here, and just to be sure, we made a reservation just in case they will be closed or full on Mother’s Day. Lucky us, Bellepat is open, finally! They were pretty responsive on Facebook and my sister made the reservation there. They also asked us to order in advance so we won’t have to wait long for our food. It was a bit hard to choose since there were 15 of us and all their food was for one person only. There was no food for sharing except for their appetizers like salad, fries, and nachos.
Since it was our first time dining here at Bellepat in Tayabas, we did not expect that the place was too small (for us). We thought the open area beside them is still part of the restaurant but it wasn’t. There were a few tables and chairs outside but it was lunchtime and it was hot. They reserved a table for us inside but it was too cramped. The table wasn’t actually enough for us since we were sitting with almost no space from one another. And yeah, our elbows were bumping with each other. Anyway, it was partly our fault since we didn’t know that the place was too small. There was another customer beside us, at a separate table. We wish they also gave us that table since the table was really too small for us.
Anyway, since we already ordered food, they were able to serve us the salad almost immediately after we arrived.
Chef’s Salad
Lettuce tossed in balsamic vinaigrette with spiraled cucumber and carrots, diced mangoes, cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, glazed walnuts, bread crisps, alfalfa sprouts, and chia seeds.
This is no doubt delicious. We liked it very much but too much for a cutesy. The spiraled carrots and cucumber were unnecessary as it was a bit hard to slice… or eat. It was too long. LOL. They could make it spiral but should be shorter, at least.
If you are going here with a small group, you can order half of this full-size salad for only Php 109.

Salmon Teriyaki Salad
Wanted to try something new or something we don’t usually see when we dine here in Lucena so, I chose this.
Lettuce tossed in roasted sesame dressing, again with the unnecessary long, spiraled cucumber and carrots, grilled salmon, toasted sesame seeds, seaweed nori, and onion leeks.
I chose this since they used roasted sesame dressing which I really like. It was delicious too but we liked the Chef’s Salad more.

After that, our other orders arrived one by one.
Since the place was small, there were only a few staff and they are hard to call. They are barely in the dining area which made it hard for us to ask for water, an additional fork, spoon, plate, etc. We also asked for us that didn’t arrive at all. They have staff at the counter but he isn’t approachable. We almost thought that he wasn’t working there as he was too busy on his phone. I mean, he can hear us that we need something. Anyway, the other busy staff was nice and approachable, it was just that they are too busy even though it was only us, and 2 more customers on the other table. Well, we were 15, we can somehow forgive that?
Moving on, here’s what we had. I asked my family members to rate the food we ordered.
Pan-Seared Salmon
Love the plating!
Pan-seared salmon topped with citric butter garlic pesto sauce and served with steamed rice and balsamic vinaigrette salad.
I liked that it also comes with a salad so if you are ordering this, there’s no need to order an additional salad. As for the salmon, it needs more flavor. It was bland. Even the pesto on top was bland. Even after putting lemon, it still tasted bland. Too bland that my auntie asked for soy sauce that didn’t come.
I had high hopes for this since I love pesto but this simply didn’t make the cut.

Beef Salpicao
Beef tenderloin marinated in hoisin sauce and sauteed in roasted garlic oil, button mushroom, and crispy potato slices.
My father ordered this and he said he liked it and would rate it 5/5. I tasted it and it was too salty for me. Well, my father likes salty food that’s why he said he liked it. I love salpicao and this doesn’t taste like the usual ones I eat. The meat was tender but it was missing that garlicky taste.
I would have rated this 3.5 but they told me to make it 4/5.

Pan-Grilled Tuna
Grilled tuna served with steamed rice, balsamic vinaigrette salad, and Filipino-style soy sauce.
My uncle and auntie said that it tastes okay but the tuna was tough and they did not enjoy it.

Spicy Pork Spareribs
Deep-fried pork spareribs sauteed in green chilies served with steamed rice, buttered vegetables, and soy sauce.
“When I say spareribs, I was expecting full spareribs. What have you done??? ” That was my reaction when they served us this plate. It was like bite-sized spareribs. Well, at least it was easier to eat? and the meat was tender. But… I love my spareribs whole, not bite-sized. Nooooooo!!! I don’t know if they wanted this to look cute but it’s a no for me. I super love spareribs too and to be honest, it tastes okay but I did not appreciate it.

Crispy Chicken Thigh Fillet served with steamed rice and demi-glaze.
My cousin liked this and told me it was 4/5.

Skinny Liempo
Crispy thin pork belly served with garlic rice and garnished with pickled shallots, onion leeks, garlic chips, potato crisp, and sunny side up egg.
It was indeed crispy and thin. We liked it but since it was served with garlic chips and potato crispy which were all deep-fried as well, there was a bit of umay factor so you would want something to remove that. Definitely love those crispy potatoes too!

I know it was lunchtime but we ordered a burger and pasta since I don’t when we would dine here again.
Tinapa Flakes in Olive Oil
Fettuccini pasta tossed in olive oil and tinapa flakes then topped with tomatoes, black olives, and spring onions.
Good thing we ordered pasta! It was delicious and has enough tinapa flakes. At first, I find the calamansi on the side a bit weird since this type of pasta usually comes with lemon but it tastes good.

Bellepat Burger
Another “good thing I ordered this!”
Love that melted cheese! The beef patty tastes good plus the burger has lots of lettuce on it. It also has tomatoes and crispy onions. Yum!

Avocado and Green Apple Creme Series
By the way, we also ordered Avocado and Green Apple Creme Series and it tastes pretty fine but too artificial for us.

I wasn’t really comfortable when we were eating since were crammed at the table so, instead of ordering milkshakes, milk tea, and some desserts which we heard were good here, we decided to have it somewhere else. That’s when we went to Ben’s Halo-Halo in Sariaya since the one in Lucena is already full. Ben’s Sariaya is bigger and has a nice view.
Well, to be fair, the ambiance there was really nice but the place isn’t ideal for big groups.

The food was good and the staff was nice EXCEPT for that person on the counter. I remembered we paid for our meal and gave it to him. We have a change but he didn’t give it to us. He didn’t even call us to give it. We just saw it on the countertop. The countertop was just behind us. I mean, “what was that??? seriously???” We were waiting for our change and looked at the counter, we talked to each other and said “is that our change?” I don’t know who he is, but maybe he needs to learn a bit of customer service. In the end, we just get the change from the countertop, and upon confirming that it was ours, by looking at the receipt and not by talking to him since he seems too busy on his phone, we left. LOL.
If I am coming back again? Maybe yes but most likely not. I will only go back here if someone asked me to but if there are other options, I will not. Some of the food was delicious but this one time visit was enough for me.
If I will recommend it? Yes, if you want to try something new in a small but instagrammable place. I would recommend that you try their salads, especially the Chef’s Salad. For the food, I would recommend their Tinapa Flakes in Olive Oil, and the Bellepat Burger.
