Intramuros Trip

Intamuros-Binondo Trip Part 1

My friends and I love going to Intramuros and Binondo for photo walks and of course, food trips.

Before heading on to this trip, we have decided to drop by San Sebastian Church and have lunch at the YOUniversity Suites in Recto then we rode a jeepney going to Intramuros.

Intramuros is known as the “Walled City” where you can find historical landmarks like Fort Santiago, Manila Cathedral, and San Agustin Church.

Intramuros

I must admit, going to Intramuros and Binondo is a bit of a challenge since I live in Taguig (I live in Manila back then but I don’t have the luxury to tour around Binondo). I would always have to wear comfortable outfits and since I know, that going here is a battle. A battle to make sure that 1) you will not lose any of your valuable things, 2) your feet will survive the whole day of walking, 3) you’re stomach can take in all of the food that you would see and eat. A lot of mental and physical preparation is necessary.

On this trip, my friend and I was able to draf one of our colleagues and I told her those reminders since it is her first time. Take note, she lives in Manila yet she hasn’t set foot in Intramuros and Binondo.

Intramuros

Some would say otherwise. I know, but what we always do is just walk and eat, literally. The first time we did this, we walked from Quiapo to Intramuros to Binondo to Divisoria. See what I mean? But this time, we only walked from Intramuros to Binondo. So this is a short trip. SHORT TRIP.

We already toured around Intramuros a couple of times already and the real reason why we went there was to eat street food. Well, not the usual fishballs but siomai and kutsinta with yema. Yup, that’s the main reason. It’s not even sold in a fancy restaurant nor have a fancy presentation. It is sold on the street beside Lyceum and MAPUA to cater to the students. Along with it are other street foods like corn with cheese.

The siomai was in a rectangular form and a lot of students were buying it. It became famous on social media because of its unusual shape and its affordability, It was really affordable… affordable… Yes, very affordable.

We should’ve asked first how much was it and ordered only a few. We thought 20 pesos would only be 4 to 5 pcs. LOL.

We finished eating the siomai because we’re too shy to throw it away. Hahaha. Well, you get what you paid for. We did not really expect it to be delicious but, hhhmmm…

Next is the kutsinta with yema. On the other hand, is really a must-try. There’s a lot of street vendors selling it all over Manila now so, you don’t really have to go here just to buy it.

Kutsinta with Yema

We all know kutsinta with grated coconut on top. It is delicious, right? But what if, yema was put on top of it? Delicious! Appetizing, palatable, delectable, mouth-watering, scrumptious, yummy!!! Fantastic!

Kutsinta with Yema

The yema was taken straight from the can of the condensed milk. Nothing extravagant with its presentation and even on how it was made, it’s just made with pure happiness. Its simplicity is just overwhelming for our taste buds especially to my friend who really loves kutsinta.

So, after indulging in that kutsinta with yema feast. We already head on to Binondo.

Ohh, we stopped by the Post Office and Jones Bridge for some photo-ops first. This is also a must, ALWAYS.
